Geely taps China banks to back $1.8 billion Volvo deal (Reuters)

Geely, the Chinese carmaker picked as the preferred bidder for Ford Motor’s Volvo unit, is seeking at least $1 billion in loans from Chinese banks to finance its $1.8 billion bid, sources said on Tuesday.

AP source: GE, Vivendi in tentative deal for NBC (AP)

General Electric Co. has reached an agreement to buy the 20 percent stake in NBC Universal held by French media conglomerate Vivendi SA, The Associated Press has learned.

Dollar dips as markets recover from Dubai shock (AP)

The safe-haven dollar mostly slipped Monday, with the euro rising back over $1.50, but managed to hold above 14-year yen lows as investors held their breaths on the Dubai debt crisis.
